3 men charged, accused of climbing the AT&T building

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Metro Nashville Police Department arrested three out-of-state men after they allegedly scaled the AT&T Building, Tennessee’s tallest building, Sunday afternoon.

A person saw the three on the building around 4:40 p.m. and called 911.

Central Precinct officers responded and used binoculars where they saw a man near a spire of the building and another lying on the circular AT&T logo.

Officers entered the building and headed to the top of the building, but neither the officers nor the helicopter crew found people there.

The police searched from floor to floor and found the three on the 24thth floor hiding together in a locked bathroom stall around 6:30 p.m.

The officer, at gunpoint, ordered them to show their hands under the stall door, and police said the three complied and were then taken into custody.

Police arrested the following men:

  • Jacob Thomas Cieszynski, 26, of Chicago
  • Chase Cooper Lester, 26, of Culloden, Georgia
  • Ryan James McGarrity, 20, of Laguna Woods, California

According to police, the three said they managed to make their way to the top after entering through what they claimed was an unsecured door.

Officers confiscated many of their cameras, including a GoPro.

One of the men told the officers that they had heard that the AT&T building was the best place to see Nashville, so they entered and climbed onto the roof.

The three men now face charges of aggravated trespass and disorderly conduct.

Police said Lester was also charged with possession of burglary tools after a crowbar and screwdriver were found in his backpack.
