The Human Rights Commission (Society) said: “We must thoroughly manage prisoners who take herbal medicines.”

Regarding the death of a prison inmate who overdosed on psychotropic drugs, the National Commission for Human Rights decided that the Ministry of Justice should thoroughly manage the drugs.

Korea’s National Human Rights Commission said it filed a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission, saying the victim’s family suffered an accident due to the negligence of prison management when an inmate overdosed on psychotropic drugs.

The NHRC said there is a limit to the management of inmates with limited correctional officers, but there is a need for in-depth management by improving guidelines for inmates on psychotropic drugs to prevent recurrence of similar accidents.

The prison explained that although the drug was strictly administered, the victim abused the drug by deceiving the worker and immediately took emergency measures to the hospital, but it was difficult to prevent the accident.
