Mark Cuban reveals why he’s no longer going to Mavs road games

Mark Cuban says NBA pettiness is why he no longer attends road games in Dallas.

The billionaire owner owned a majority stake in the Mavs until he sold 72.3 percent of it to the Adelson and Dumont families in December 2023. He now owns just 27 percent.

Cuban was noticeably absent from the second row behind the bench for road games and said it was because of the league’s enforcement of the rules.

“The NBA got really, really, really mean and said I can’t sit behind the bench anymore,” Cuban said. The Stein Line.

When Cuban sold the team, there was some kind of expectation that he would continue to run basketball operations.

However, Mavs GM Nico Harrison was clearly reporting to new owner Patrick Dumont until Dallas reached the NBA Finals last season.

Cuban spoke candidly about adjusting to the shift.

“It’s been up and down,” Cuban said. “I had moments in both — moments where I said, ‘OK, this is what we have to do, but I’m not the boss.’ And then there were other times where I was like, “I’m glad I’m not the boss.” “

He added: “The only time I regret it is when the NBA pisses me off. Maybe it would be different if we lost and things didn’t go well, but things are going well. It’s nothing specific to the Mavs. I can’t go to NBA meetings anymore and give them shit because they’re petty.”
