The former Danish striker spoke about the horrific incident that happened last week in New York.

According to the Danish media via MirrorBendtner was walking down the street in Manhattan on Thursday, November 21, when a man carrying a knife attacked one of his friends.

Reports added that the victim was a football player. He was injured in the incident and required medical attention in a New York hospital.

The attacker, 25-year-old Joshua Zinberg, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and assault.

“Could it be me who was attacked? I have no comment on that. But I can confirm it’s me in the video – it’s hard to run away from,” said the former Arsenal star.

The 36-year-old scored 47 goals in 171 appearances for the Gunners and was capped 81 times for the Danish national team, per Transfermarkt.

In 2021, he announced his retirement from football.
