Wichita Falls woman convicted in motel murder

(This story has been updated to add new information.)

A Wichita Falls woman is being held on a felony charge related to an incident at a motel in August, according to police.

Heather Marie Boswell, 40, was arrested Monday night and booked into the Wichita County Jail in lieu of $750,000 bail, online jail records show.

According to allegations in an arrest affidavit, police were dispatched to the Days Inn Motel on Maurine Street on Aug. 24 to check on a possible deceased person.

They entered room 212 and found Boswell, who called the police, sitting in a chair at the foot of the bed where Michael Newcomb lay dead.

The affidavit alleges that while officers were investigating, Boswell took a knife and some lottery tickets from a purse and began scratching the tickets.

When a police officer took the purse, Boswell said he wanted it back when the investigation was over.

Crime scene technicians searched the purse and found a bag containing a crystal substance and two syringes. The crystalline substance tested positive for methamphetamine.

The affidavit said Boswell admitted to injecting Newcomb with the drug.

Boswell was arrested on a drug charge on Sept. 19 and was released from jail on that charge on Oct. 1, according to Wichita County Jail records.
