HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old housewife from Odisha, who was allegedly lured by a local for surrogacy and sexually abused, committed suicide in a flat in Gachibowli.

The victim was sexually abused by the man, who a month ago allegedly brought her to his My Home Bhooja flat in Gachibowli on the promise of paying Rs 10 lakh for surrogacy, reliable sources said .

The victim Ashvita Singh was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the lawn of her apartment. The police suspect that she could not bear Rajesh Babu’s harassment.

On Tuesday around 11 pm, she called her husband Sanjay Singh and informed him that Rajesh Babu was forcing him to have physical relationship with her and that she had decided to end her life. When he rushed home at 1 am, Sanjay went to the ninth floor with the watchman and found his wife’s body on the lawn, Raidurgam police said.

The police registered a case of abetment to suicide and sexual harassment against Rajesh Babu under section 75 (11) and 108 of the NBS and took him into custody.
