Officials call off search for woman in Mt. National Forest. Hood

After four days of searching the area near the headwaters of the Salmon River in the National Forest Mt. Hood for 61-year-old Susan Lane-Fournier, search and rescue operations have been suspended, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday evening.

Lane-Fournier was reported missing on Friday, November 22 after failing to report to work. Friends call him “Phoenix”.

“It’s better to assume and not act than to assume and act and we’re just trying to stay calm, stoic and hope for the best,” her son Dakota Lane said during an interview with KATU at the start of a days before the official search was called off. .

A spokesman for the sheriff’s office said they have four teams searching for Fournier and have deployed several drones to assist in the operation. The person also commented on a report that Susan’s two dogs had been found and noted that they “have investigated this and confirmed that the dogs were not hers.”

“Based on weather conditions and likelihood of survival, the decision was made to suspend operations after all four volunteer search teams returned from the field,” the sheriff’s office said in a Tuesday news release evening.

The search for Lane-Fournier remains an active missing persons case, the sheriff’s office said, adding that investigators are still gathering details about her disappearance.

Anyone with information on Lane-Fournier’s whereabouts or sightings of her dogs is urged to contact the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office’s non-emergency dispatch line at 503-655-8211.
