Espoo, Finland – Nokia today announced that it has been awarded more than 3,000 sites by Deutsche Telekom AG (DT) to support the expansion of the operator’s multi-provider Open RAN network in Germany. The agreement, which includes Fujitsu, covers a mass roll-out of O-RAN-compatible technology, with commercial deployment already underway in the Neubrandenburg area of ​​northern Germany. The new agreement officially marks the return of Nokia as the provider of Europe’s largest network and will see Nokia replace the current provider in the area covered by the agreement.

Under the agreement, Nokia will provide equipment from its O-RAN-capable 5G AirScale portfolio, powered by its energy-efficient ReefShark System-on-Chip technology, including modular high-capacity baseband solutions and Habrok Massive MIMO high-performance radios performance for premium. coverage and capacity. Industry-leading Nokia solutions ensure performance consistency, resilience and security for Open RAN. The Nokia solutions integrate with DT’s multi-vendor Open RAN environment, where Fujitsu will provide its O-RAN-compatible mid-range radio headend products. In the agreement, Nokia will also support DT with network modernization alongside existing providers.

Nokia will also deploy its intelligent AI-powered MantaRay NM solution for enhanced network monitoring and management and provide AI-based services including digital implementation, optimization and technical support.
